I bleached my hair once, then dyed it with Manic Panic Vampire Red. :)

I am so sorry I haven’t updated in a very long time. This past couple weeks have been difficult school-wise.
And then with the earthquake/tsunami devastation in Japan, I’ve been following that constantly since it happened. I find myself crying daily because the things I’m seeing on these Japanese news channels are so devastating.
I am in no state to update this blog right now, so just hang tight. You can keep the questions and submissions coming, I just might not reply to them right away :)
Please continue to keep Japan in your thoughts, and donate if you can. If you missed my last post, I’m donating all the money I make from people downloading my songs on Bandcamp. So please help out because this is very important to me because Japan is very close to my heart and I have friends there.

Well, I said I’d start doing spotlights on awesome famous redheads. And I thought since Florence was on the Oscars last night, this would be a perfect time to do it!
If you think you’ve been seeing this woman everywhere, it’s because you have! She performed at the VMA’s, the Grammys, and then the Oscars last night! I first found out about her on the VMA’s back in September (her red hair captured my interest, of course), and I went out and bought a copy of her album and was an instant fan.

If you don’t know who Florence is, she is more commonly known by her recording name Florence + the Machine, which is the name for her (Florence) and the artists she collaborates with on her songs (the machine). You may have heard her songs “Dog Days Are Over” and “Kiss With a Fist” various places, and you probably loved them haha. She’s won countless awards in her homeland of England, and was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys.
Her voice is just captivating, and if you’ve never heard of her, you should check her out on YouTube or iTunes!
Florence claims to dye her hair at home with box dyes, which is great news for us poor people! She says “any cheap home dye will do!” This just goes to show you that you can get an awesome red look at home :)

verored asked: hi, sorry if you get this a lot, but what is your natural hair color? I wanted to try feria and I like your results, so I was wondering what you started with. Thanks!
It’s alright! This is an old picture of me before I ever started dying my hair.

But keep in mind that when I used the Feria dye, my hair already had some red deposits in it because I had dyed it many many times before. So it wasn’t really a clean slate for dyeing. But this should give you some idea! :)

I used Feria True Red (:

I started dying my hair fully red in October 2009. I dyed the underside a fire engine red a few times to see if I liked red on me, which I obviously did :] I use Garnier Fructis hair dye. I’ve used several different colors because I couldn’t remember which color I used previously and now they kind of all mix together and look like I have different shades instead of just one flat color, which I like. I’ll touch up roots about every two months and if I don’t do my roots I’ll redye it 3-4 months after I last dyed it. I use Burt’s Bees shampoo and Organix shampoo because I’m very into natural products. I really don’t do anything special to maintain my color.

I love the color of your hair! It looks natural :) Thanks for submitting!
I just wanted to remind you all to keep submitting not only your questions, but pictures of yourself and your red hair! Make sure to include what dye you used, and any other product recommendations.
Sorry I haven’t been able to update as much as I want. These past two weeks have been the busiest of the semester so far!
I know it’s 1am and I should be doing my Japanese homework BUT I just bought some new shampoo today and I must share it with you.

Dove Damage Therapy Color Repair
I just bought the shampoo and conditioner today at Wal-Mart and I just used it. The reason why I chose to buy it is kind of funny actually…I was walking up and down the shampoo isle, looking for different color shampoos, because the L’Oreal Color Care System I usually buy is too expensive and I’m running low on money. I came across this Dove shampoo. It caught my eye because it was only a little over $2 per bottle. I opened up the cap and smelled it and it smelled heavenly haha.
The minute I used it, I already felt the difference. And the conditioner made my hair soooo smooth.
I dried my hair, and now I can’t stop running my fingers through it. It made my hair so smooth.
I haven’t dyed my hair in a long while, so I don’t know how good it is at keeping fresh red color (it has one sulfate in it), but I just love it right now.
And if it’s already making a difference in my hair after one use, I can’t wait to see what it will do over time.
